Evaluation of Maxillary Transverse Arch Dimensions Following Leveling and Alignment with Different Archwire-Bracket Combinations During Fixed Appliance Treatment - A Retrospective Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background- Arch expansion is one of the non- extraction methods gaining space. This study aims to assess and compare arch achieved during initial leveling alignment with three different bracket-archwire combinations.
Material Methods- was a retrospective done in university setup. From available patient information archives, records 30 subjects based on their advocated bracket system were identified categorized into groups. Their pre-treatment (T0) post aligning (T2) 3D model maxillary scans superimposed according reference points marked third palatal rugae using an OrthoAnalyzer software(3 shape version 19.0) changes Intercanine width (ICW), Inter-premolar (IPW) Intermolar (IMW) length. For recorded data, descriptive statistics, One-way ANOVA Tukey HSD hoc analyzed SPSS software.
Results- Except for Damon group that showed considerable increase intermolar premolar dimensions, other groups had no statistically significant differences terms width, Interpremolar length.
Conclusion- Changes transverse dimension noticed among all maximum archwire combination. Although difference between difference, it appreciated clinically relieving dental crowding.

Comparative Evaluation of Frictional forces between different Archwire-bracket Combinations

Introduction: During sliding mechanics, frictional resistance is an important counterforce to orthodontic tooth movement; which must be controlled to allow application of light continuous forces. objective: To investigate static and kinetic frictional resistance between three orthodontic brackets: ceramic, self-ligating, and stainless steel, and three 0.019×0.025” archwires: stainless steel, ni...

Comparison of metal ion release from different bracket archwire combinations: an in vitro study.

AIM The metal ion released from the orthodontic appliance may cause allergic reactions particularly nickel and chromium ions. Hence, this study was undertaken to determine the amount of nickel, chromium, copper, cobalt and iron ions released from simulated orthodontic appliance made of new archwires and brackets. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty sets of new archwire, band material, brackets and li...

The effect of different combinations of tip and torque on archwire/bracket friction.

The aim of this laboratory-based study was to investigate the effects of different combinations of tip and torque upon friction between an orthodontic bracket and archwire using a specially made jig. Victory Twin Series upper premolar brackets (3M Unitek) were mounted on a jig, which allowed tip and torque values in the slot to be varied without altering the centre of rotation. The jig was moun...

Evaluation of friction of conventional and metal-insert ceramic brackets in various bracket-archwire combinations.

The purpose of the study was to measure and compare the level of frictional resistance generated between conventional ceramic brackets (Transcend Series 6000, 3M Unitek, Monrovia, Calif), ceramic brackets with stainless steel slot (Clarity, 3M Unitek), conventional stainless steel brackets (Victory Series, 3M Unitek), and 3 different orthodontic wire alloys: stainless steel (stainless steel, SD...

Rapid maxillary expansion followed by fixed appliances: a long-term evaluation of changes in arch dimensions.

The purpose of this longitudinal study was to evaluate the short- and long-term changes in dental arch dimensions in patients treated with rapid maxillary expansion (RME) followed by fixed edge-wise appliances. The records of 112 patients in the treated group (TG) were compared with those of 41 untreated controls. Serial dental casts were available at three different intervals: pretreatment (T1...
